TactileBOSCH, Cardiff

Recently I attended the MA Show at Tactile Bosch, a gallery in Llandaf outside of Cardiff. While there was not a whole lot of work that pertained to any of my current projects, I did enjoy a few of the displays. However, what I found most fascinating was the building itself and how the artists had to work with its personality. The artists who chose to close off their artwork in a small room with white curtains on the walls I don’t think were successful in integrating their art into the space. The artists that incorporated the underside of staircases, rafters, creepy corners, angled ceilings, and the general atmosphere of decrepitude had the most memorable displays. The building itself did promote discussion on how one should display work, if it should be made for a specific location, if objects should be able to be displayed in any space or just the one it was made for. So, while I was not particularly inspired in mind of my work, I did find the exhibition educational.
